Lighting is my FAVORITE! Well that and tile π We spotted lots of lighting in Highpoint from wood bead fixtures to cut crystal accents to cascading tiered fixtures that were over 10′ tall! Metals are still mixed and glass elements are BIG! Loving these fixtures fromΒ the Currey and Co., Dovetail, and John Richard showrooms!

Spring Highpoint Trends, Vol. 4 – Woven Textures
Inspiration Images, Interior DesignSpring Highpoint Trends, Vol. 3- Boho Pillows
Inspiration Images, Interior DesignBoho-inspired pillows were everywhere and go great with trend number 2- paper art! The texture, fringe, and deep colors were seen throughout market as shown on sofas and pillow displays.Β Natural earth tones set the mood for textile inspired and heavily textured pillows. The colors were rich and blended with naturals to give an urban and ethnic feel. We like mixing these with solids to make a statement on any sofa, chair, or bed. Some of our favorites were from Callisto Home, Villa, Loloi, and V. Rugs and Home.
Spring Highpoint Trends, Vol. 2- Paper Art
Art that Inspires, Inspiration Images, Interior DesignFor a design project, sometimes you need something that’s not a mirror and not another piece of art. Sometimes a space dictates something that’s non-subject matter related based on what else is already in the room– something with dimension and sculpture. Here’s the perfect solution– paper art! Lots of manufacturers are hopping on this trend, and we have LOTS heading to our showroom. Here are some ofΒ our favorite new intros from market….
And here are some from our favorite vendors!
Spring Highpoint Trends, Vol. 1- Warm Woods
Inspiration Images, Interior DesignWhile it’s hard to pinpoint a certain “style” among the number of showrooms we visit in Highpoint, you begin to see trends emerge throughout the market that are the common factor of where the next phase of design is heading. This spring there were lots of things that stood out that I’ll highlight in future posts, but one major unifying look was the use of wood and natural materials in furniture finishes. Although it will always be around in our area, the grey-ish tones are slowly taking a backseat to more dark warm woods and natural brown finishes. We loved the modern lines and chunky rustic woods that dominated showrooms across the board.Β Take a look at some of these pieces that were our favorites!
Crazy about Century!
Inspiration Images, Interior DesignIf you’re scared of designing with color– I’ll save you some time …. stop reading now. The bold, beautiful colors in the Century Highpoint showroom were show-stoppingly AMAZING! Lots of rich jewel tones mixed with basic whites and neutrals. It presented such a great look mixed with classic design elements and classic lines. Our favorite look (and heading to our showroom, of course) were the rich aqua blues and emerald greens that are such a staple in our area.

Inspiration Images, Interior Design, Things I like
I love a good before-and-after just as much the next person, but THIS ONE takes the cake! It was a labor of love, and still isn’t QUITE finished yet, but I couldn’t resist showing it off! Karen Kerns and I worked with the homeowner and contractor from the beginning to select all interior and exterior finishes, fixtures, paint, lighting, furniture, art, and accessories.Β Sure makes the project easy when you have a wonderful client and a great contractor! Thanks to everyone involved in making it a fun one! Stay tuned for more progress!

Watercolor Before and After
Interior Design, Things I likeHere are some images of a job I recently completed in Watercolor. Its open floor plan living and dining area needed a fresh, coastal-casual look without the outdated striped couches and wicker furniture. We wanted to achieve this by changing out some main upholstery pieces while keeping other basic casegoods. And great news! You can rent this home for your next 30A vacation! Check out the link today!
